Small Cohorts
Maximum nine Associates per cohort. Not a compromise — a deliberate choice. Real professional development requires genuine discussion, challenge and trust. That cannot happen in a crowd.
The Coaching & Behaviour Lab
Our job is to understand it —
so we can help others understand themselves.
Most drivers involved in collisions already know the rules of the road. The failure often lies not in knowledge or vehicle control, but in the person — their judgements, emotions and decision-making under pressure.
If we want safer roads, we must look beyond vehicle control and begin to understand the human factors that shape driver behaviour.
CAB Lab is a professional community for instructors who want to explore coaching, psychology and the deeper influences behind how people drive. It is for those who believe that developing self-aware, reflective drivers has a greater impact on road safety than simply identifying faults and prescribing solutions.
Together we examine the thoughts, emotions, motives and identities that sit behind behaviour behind the wheel.
Because safer drivers are created when people begin to understand themselves.
At CAB Lab we believe that creating safer drivers begins with understanding ourselves, understanding others, and understanding the behaviours that emerge from the interaction between the two. The Three Lens Model provides the foundation for every discussion, every module and every coaching conversation throughout the programme.
Understanding who we are — our values, beliefs, emotional responses and the identity we bring into every coaching conversation.
Understanding who they are — how our learners think, feel and make decisions, and what shapes their behaviour behind the wheel.
Understanding what emerges between us — the dynamic interaction of two people, and how coaching can shape that exchange for lasting change.

Maximum nine Associates per cohort. Not a compromise — a deliberate choice. Real professional development requires genuine discussion, challenge and trust. That cannot happen in a crowd.
Every module is grounded in research from psychology, behavioural science and coaching practice. We do not teach opinion. We bring academic rigour into the driving instructor's world.
CAB Lab will challenge the way you think, not just the way you teach. We ask difficult questions and sit with uncomfortable answers. This is for instructors who are ready for that.
Everything connects to your coaching conversations. Theory without practice is not enough. Every idea explored in CAB Lab is designed to change something in the car tomorrow.
It is for instructors who are ready to look beyond vehicle control — who believe that understanding people is as important as teaching them to drive. If that is you, we would like to hear from you.
Applications are reviewed personally by Lee Jowett. Each cohort is limited to nine Associates to ensure the depth of discussion and professional challenge that CAB Lab is built on.
